The #153 is a Short Centerset scale sized coupler with smaller head and knuckle for a more prototypical look. The #153 features an even longer-lasting and more reliable design. No more fumbling with centering springs. No more multi-piece assemblies. The #153 Whisker® coupler is a true drop-in coupler. The #153 is interchangeable with the #23, #33, #143, and most manufacturer's Short Centerset OEM knuckle couplers. For a #33 equivalent use the #153 in a #252 Gearbox.

It is not recommended to use a metal coupler directly on a metal surface or in a metal draft gearbox to avoid possible electrical crossover and shorting that may cause damage. For insulated couplers use the #23 coupler.

*Note: Some manufacturers now produce models with non-industry standard coupler pockets (molded-on gearbox). These shallower coupler pockets may require slight modification to the gearbox or coupler to function properly. If the model has a shallow molded-on gearbox, the top of the #153 Whisker® coupler shank may be filed thinner to fit the shallower cast-on coupler pockets.
